Welcome to My Personal Page
2 year's ago Hope was at the Butterfly Run growing in her mom's belly and this year we are running-walking again in her memory.
This event is very important in raising awareness of Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) and encouraging conversations around it. After losing Hope, I (Nicole) learned how misunderstood PAIL is and how isolating it can be for families dealing with this grief. Thanks to the awareness from the Butterfly Run I knew where to turn for support when we most needed it.
The funds raised support families facing pregnancy and infant loss. An example is the Butterfly Kits that are now available in the emergency departments (for early losses) and the maternity ward (for late losses). We received the very first Butterfly Kit and it helped us to create memories and keepsakes in the short time we had with Hope. One of our favourite items from the kit was a small stuffed bunny which snuggled up with Hope when she was born and later provided me comfort when I returned home without Hope. McKinley now plays with 'Hope's Bunny'and he understands how special she is.
Funds are also used for training in the emergency departments (for early losses) and the maternity ward (for late losses). This training is invaluable because families experiencing a loss need specialized support and deserve a positive experience. With the birth of a healthy child, if things don't go well at the hospital, you still have a lifetime to create memories. When you lose your baby, the only time & memories you have with them are from the hospital. The Butterfly Run organizers keep inviting me to speak at the maternity ward training sessions, and as emotionial as it is for me, I can't hep but to keep doing it!
We can't thank you enough for your support!
